Yes, but standard road running shoes frequently struggle during the workout stations. While they provide comfortable cushioning for the 8 × 1km running intervals, their outsoles typically feature soft, exposed EVA foam rather than full-coverage rubber. On artificial turf during the 175kg Sled Push and 125kg Sled Pull, lack of full-coverage high-friction rubber leads to severe foot slippage and lost power. For competitive times, a hybrid shoe with full-coverage sticky rubber is recommended.
We do not have first-party sled tests, so we do not claim a proven sled shoe. Manufacturer outsole names (PUMAGRIP, Continental rubber) describe compounds, not measured HYROX sled traction. The sled-grip ranking uses the same Finder goal and editorial Level D scores. Confidence stays Medium or Low until those shoes are actually tested.
